Modified Rugby (6th-8th grade) is the transition from Flag Rugby to HS aged Rugby (full contact), safely introducing the contact elements of the game; including rucks, mauls and various set-piece restarts.  Modified Rugby is structured as controlled contact and all coaches and referees strictly adhere to US Rugby specific guidelines for all aspects of this game to ensure safety.

 

Due to the introduction of the contact elements Modified Rugby is gender specific.

For 2018: 716-Rugby intends to have Boys and Girls programs consisting of players from all areas of WNY, regardless of school affiliation.  Minimally each program will have house league games as well as tournament play with teams from other areas (some travel may be involved at this level).

*716-Rugby's Modified Rugby teams consist of players from several WNY area middle schools.  But the intention is to develop middle school rugby teams at all area districts that currently  have High School Boys and Girls rugby teams.
